We are delighted to announce that Paul-Henri Mathieu will once again be our official Roland-Garros Travel ambassador. Former accomplished French tennis player and No. 12 in the world rankings, Paul-Henri brings his expertise to provide you with a memorable travel experience.
Paul-Henri Mathieu, a true French tennis legend, made history with his performances on the court. With an impressive professional career, he played in 16 editions of the Roland-Garros Tournament, reaching the Round of 16 in 2002 in only his second participation, where he lost against André Agassi (world No. 4) in 5 sets! His mastery of the clay-court game and his powerful playing style have captivated fans over the world.
Paul-Henri Mathieu’s track record includes several ATP titles, highlighting his consistency and determination. He has won four singles titles and three doubles titles during his career. Highlights include the fact that he was the last player to defeat the American Pete Sampras, holder of 14 Grand Slam titles, and the Brazilian legend Gustavo Kuerten in the last match of his career at Roland-Garros in 2008. He also holds the record for the longest Grand Slam match lasting 4 sets, thanks to his battle with the great Rafael Nadal, also at Roland-Garros in 2006. His tenacity on the court and his commitment to excellence have made him an internationally recognized player.
We are particularly proud to announce that Paul-Henri Mathieu has recently been promoted to Captain of the French Davis Cup Team. His remarkable career as a player with the team from 2002 to 2008 is now completed by his strategic role as Captain for the new generations.
He will also lead the men’s delegation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games next summer. This dual responsibility testifies to his significant contribution to French tennis.
As Roland-Garros Travel ambassador, Paul-Henri Mathieu brings his unique experience of the tennis world to the table. Having been a member of the French team staff for several years, he has a keen eye for the players’ on-court performance.
His passion for tennis and his desire to pass it on are perfectly reflected in Roland-Garros Travel’s commitment to provide tennis fans with exceptional trips and unforgettable experiences.
We’re honored to be working with Paul-Henri Mathieu and look forward to share unique moments with you during your stay at Roland-Garros!
